RESOURCE THERAPY
Resource Therapy is based on using a set of techniques that allows a therapist to have the most direct access to the parts of our personality that are experiencing problems. Once accessed, effective methods are applied to resolve the problem efficiently.
The personality is composed of parts and those parts are our ‘resources’…
What is Resource Therapy?
- Resource Therapy is a brief, solution-focused therapy based on the concept that our personality is made up of parts.
- In Resource Therapy personality elements are called ‘resources’ as it is believed we each have many resources available to us through these parts.
- In Resource Therapy every part of our personality has an important purpose, therefore each part is valued and appreciated. The therapist supports the client in bringing these parts together to create peace and balance within the person as a whole.
- Often when people feel emotional pain or discomfort, certain behaviours may kick in, to take the focus away from that emotional distress. These behaviours will continue until the part that is holding that emotion feels understood and supported.
Gregory helps the client to explore and recognize their internal resources in order to have a better understanding of how they support and cooperate each other. Through Resource Mapping the clients’ awareness of self increases, thus providing them with a new sense of self. This experience is often empowering and very insightful.
Resource Therapy is used to treat and resolve many different issues effectively and efficiently. Gregory uses them especially when treating anxiety and depression issues, low self-esteem, addictions and internal conflicts.
Resource Therapy is solution-focused. It is non-judgmental, empowering and insightful
Gregory employs Resource Therapy in conjunction with hypnotherapy. This enables fast, effective and long-term results.
People have more resources than they consciously realize, however, they can be dissociated and not available to the conscience. A primary goal of therapy is to make them more readily available in the appropriate context.
